D E L A Y

Dear World

What does this one word D E L A Y mean to us right now?

Are we aware that our DELAY could actually affect others?

Are we checking our DELAY movements and clocking the aftermath?

Are we giving ourselves a hard time because of our DELAY habits?

Are we constantly reminded of our neglectful DELAY ways of living?

Are we the ones that subscribe to all things DELAY as we like it?

Are we frustrated with ourselves for always being known for DELAY?

Are we Judgemental of others that do DELAY every day as we don’t?

Are we expecting others in the workplace to sharpen up, but forget we are in DELAY on certain matters?

Are we the ones barking at others when they are in DELAY to Finish the Job but are not aware we have plenty of incomplete tasks to action?

Are we known among friends and colleagues for our ‘DELAY is ok – what’s the problem’ attitude?

Are we constantly apologising because we always have Excuses ready for why we are in any kind of DELAY?

Are we on the back foot with DELAY behaviours that bug others?

Are we the ones that keep others waiting because of our DELAY lifestyle?

Are we comfortable with our laidback style of DELAY even if it affects our work and others?

Are we angry when things are in DELAY and we like the Blame thing?

Are we always heading on the DELAY road in life and get Stuck a lot?

Are we joining the dots that our ‘digging heels in’ is actually a repeated choice to stay in DELAY mode?

Are we ready to ask some serious WHY Questions when it comes to the topic DELAY?

Are we looking for a road map so we can get off the DELAY route and get back on track?

Are we ready to give up our DELAY wayward ways of living and lock in some front foot business that would support us?

Are we ready to take full RESPONSIBILITY for our DELAY ingrained habits that serve no one?

Are we ready to admit that DELAY is not the way to live and not the way to continue in life, as it retards us in some way and that means it slows down the inevitable – we call that Evolution?

The following are Real Life examples that we could relate to regarding DELAY in daily life.

Example 1

IMPORTANT APPOINTMENT

We have an important appointment to attend to and we were given plenty of notice.

Our diary and calendar and all things digital remind us of the time and date and that gives us the space to plan ahead.

BUT we subscribe to DELAY…

We stay up Late as that is how we operate in daily life, then forget to set the Alarm Clock and over-sleep.

We check Emails and start replying to what needed our attention during the day but we go “Hey Ho, better late than never” and it’s way past midnight.

We feel disturbed when we Wake Up and are out-of-sorts and that internal shudder (Anxiety) is there as we keep looking at the clock, which seems to be going faster than usual.

We act like we have no idea WHY we feel Tired and certainly are not equipped to deal with the day ahead.

Must leave the house ‘on time’ but we are so un-prepared, is the narrative running through our head on repeat.

We then move like a person that is un-settled and go about getting ‘ready’ for this very important meeting that we simply cannot be late for.

Suddenly, we forget the appointment time and start checking and faffing in a flap to find all the reminders and get even more anxious.

DELAY IS NOT AN OPTION but our momentum – our regular fixed movements which are always in DELAY, have appeared again even though this is the day for NO DELAY.

We shrug it off and say “Oh God” or “Oops” and move around getting ready to leave, all the while clock watching every few seconds.

We notice that we are simply going around and around and not doing much to activate what is needed to get out of the front door.

The internal Stress is felt and our ‘go to’ self-medication is anything that will make us not feel – in other words numb or stimulate so we are void of feeling or sensing what is really going on.

Easy we know exactly what will do the job –
Cigarette, Vape, Caffeine, Sugar, TV goes on, Social Media checking anyone?

Example 2

TOILET TALK

For those that want to laugh and also get serious about this topic – well worth reading and the ADDED bonus – a guide on how to clean the toilet from a Master of Simple Toilet Cleaning.

HOW do we address DELAY when it comes to our bladder and bowel movements?

WHY do we always DELAY and put off a very natural communication to empty our bladder or bowel?

What is our response when we are in bed, at work or out shopping and sense the subtle urge to go and have a pee?

On auto for years is to IGNORE the correspondence from our bladder department and carry on and just forget, as it is way too inconvenient or we just can’t be bothered.

Getting out of bed is too much like hard work so we just roll over and go back to Sleep.

Work is the ‘just one more thing to finish’ narrative constantly feeding our head.

Shopping is way too exciting to stop and honour our body and have a small break to release our bladder.

Next –

We receive another memo and this time our bladder department is saying URGENT.

We note that and do absolutely nothing to move our butt and go to the bathroom to have a Letting Go moment with our bladder.

Next –

We feel some kind of Tension and the body is no longer in a settled or relaxed state of being.

Regardless, we still continue to Ignore until it gets so uncomfortable that we finally make the movements to go and have a moment to release our urine that is there to be eliminated from our sensitive organ – what we call the bladder.

Not once have we considered that not going when the message is initially presented is a sure sign of DELAY.

If we are in DELAY about something so basic like going to the toilet then chances are we have got other movements of DELAY in our life.

What if urinating offers us a moment of space where there is a Letting Go and an opportunity to settle our body?

The list of DELAY in daily life is endless and the following are a few more that we could consider…

BEDTIME

We find any distraction and fight the natural Sleep rhythm that our body is calling for with our endless list – Texting, Social Media, Online Shopping, Chit Chatting, Gaming, TV and Snacks to name a few.

IMPORTANT PHONE CALL

We go to our ingrained behaviours for this one and that is all things DELAY.

Avoiding, putting it off with so-called other important things is simply DELAY.

What if these procrastination movements actually make the call bigger and more potent than it is because of the voice in our head goading us to NOT GET ON WITH IT?

What if the DELAY call to the Bank, Lawyer, Accountant, Dentist, Optician, Doctor, Hospital, Landlord, Local Council, Kids School or Car Mechanic is creating more un-necessary Stress in our body?

What if this ‘Putting Things Off’ mode leads to the same DELAY behaviours for Emails?

What if DELAY in phone calls and Emails means we are on the DELAY track in life and no surprise we always get DELAY on planes and trains?

What if DELAY makes us get on the wrong train heading the other way and so even MORE DELAY to reach our interview or showing up on time for work?

What if DELAY in everyday “Life Admin” will ensure we live with constant Tension and un-settlement inside our body?

Dear World

DELAY is harming us and others whether we are ready to admit that or not.

For the critics and sceptics among us – check in with anyone who has DELAY behaviours and how their body is feeling.

DELAY makes us and others frustrated and angry and most of us like the Blame game but that changes nothing.

What if we are comfortable in our un-comfortableness when it comes to how we operate in our daily life of DELAY?

What if DELAY means we are asking for more ‘me’ time when it comes to evolving – which is happening and is inevitable?

What if DELAY is simply – we are not keeping up with the acceleration on offer when it comes to our evolution?

    https://www.publichealth.columbia.edu/news/u-s-health-departments-experience-workforce-shortages-struggle-reach-adequate-staffing-levels-public-health

U.S. Health Departments experience Workforce shortages and struggle to reach adequate staffing levels in Public Health.

Cited barriers contributing to an absence of progress in achieving a satisfactory level of workers –

    • Insufficient funding
    • Shortage of people with public health training
    • Lack of visibility for public careers
    • Lengthy hiring process

“Public Health systems are currently experiencing a mis-match between the number of graduates in the field and the hiring needs and will need to reconceptualise their procedures and approaches to sufficiently staff their departments to meet the nations’s changing public health.
Hiring managers report challenges in overcoming civil service and merit system – related barriers, including delays in establishing positions for advertisement, vague and confusing civil service exam requirements and comparatively low salaries.
Significant issues remain to be addressed if meaningful change is to happen.”
Heather Krasna PhD. – Study Author and Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Management

    Example –
It takes government agencies 204 days on average, to complete merit-based hiring.

12-49 days – average hiring process in the private sector.

Job candidates are often also required to take a civil service exam or another written or oral exam, which tend to be infrequently offered.
