Fear of Chaos
Ataxophobia is an extreme, irrational fear of disorder or untidiness.
People with Ataxophobia feel intense distress in untidy settings. They may experience Anxiety just thinking about being in a situation where disorder or messiness surrounds them. (4)
The majority of us have probably never heard of the word Ataxophobia.
It exists as we are being told and it causes intense dis–stress for those that live with this condition.
Does the fear of Chaos mean they live with order and Flow in All areas of their lives?
Have we Questioned WHY they react to any situation where there is dis–order or mess surrounding them?

The Relationship Between Household Chaos and Child, Parent and Family Outcomes: a Systematic Scoping Review
Household chaos represents the level of disorganisation or environmental confusion in the family home and is characterised by high levels of background stimulation, lack of family routines, absence of predictability and structure in daily activities and an overly fast pace of family life.
Importantly, the construct of household chaos has been associated with a diverse range of adverse childhood outcomes, including poorer social-emotional functioning, cognitive development, academic achievement and behavioural problems.
Household chaos has been linked with caregiver education, family income and the number of people living in the household, whereby a lower level of caregiver education, lower family income and a greater number of people in the home are associated with greater levels of chaos. (5)
The above is spelling it out to us.
At home if we have any level of dis–organisation or the space we have feels fuzzy and not clear then we will most likely have CHAOS going on.
If we got too much home entertainment with our Screens, on in different rooms all at the same time, or we just scroll away to pass the time, or we lack the Daily Routine responsibilities or it’s everything rushed and at Fast speed because time is always the issue, then it is INEVITABLE that we are going to have some form of CHAOS going on.
If we lack the structure needed to bring order by Simple tasks like Tidy Up or Cleaning the Pots and Pans then it will build and mount up to the point where we feel the CHAOS and there is dis–harmony around the home.
What if the kids suffer as a result of little or no order or Flow in the home environment because it’s all about living in the Danger Zone? That means Crazy Living and it not only affects their behaviour but impacts their school life and general Well-being.
If we have a multiple number of people living in the household, it would be wise to introduce proper order and get Back to Basics.
If the Family income is low then Question why take–aways, Junk Foods and high Salt diets with sugary Caffeine drinks is on the daily menu.
Could this type of food and drink affect how we live and because we know it makes us crave for more, the chances of making Real Changes with our movements are not likely, but what is likely is the continuance of CHAOS?
Have we ever considered that what we ingest may be having a greater detrimental effect on our Daily Living than we have realised?
We eat foods that are not designed for human health and this could be a contributory factor to our behaviours. Let’s call them our movements.
We feel Tired after eating those addictive foods that offer zero nutritional value but do give us loads of calories. The food itself does not give us the movements to be active and actually get things done. We get caught in this cycle and everyone else at home is doing it so it just becomes the Norm.
Many of us are not aware that having a low income does not mean starvation. Eating sensibly and cooking at home and finding ways to live within our means is a Responsibility and not a life sentence.
Chaos Addiction
“Chaos Addiction” is a relatively new psychological term that refers to living in a constant state of chaos, turmoil, tension or drama.
All addictions offer escape and refuge from life’s stresses and problems. People who are addicted to chaos may be trying to distract themselves from experiencing something painful – for example:
- a bad relationship
- feelings of unworthiness
- traumatic memories from childhood (6)
Firstly, we are told that “Chaos Addiction” is a relatively new psychological term
Could it be possible that back in the ‘good old fashion’ days where common sense was running lives, there was no “constant state of chaos, turmoil, tension or drama”?
Could it be possible that our modern day lifestyles have introduced many new types of symptoms that come from living irresponsibly?
We all know what Addiction is – we want more of the same thing to give us the reward and then we are hooked and we just want more.
Addiction is not only about drugs and this is a very important reminder.
Anything on repeat that is giving us the hit we seek and reward us means we will keep doing it.
Unless we realise that nothing is actually working and we seek Change that supports our Health and Well-being, we continue on the cycle of addition. This is simply common sense that we all have access to.
What if the body innately knows that NOT having CHAOS brings a state of being that is in sync with the daily cycles of life and attending to what is needed?
We do not create drama lama and un–necessary Stress because we GET ON WITH IT and that means we Live in a way that supports our body and we prioritise Sleep which includes how we actually wind down and go to bed, by introducing Daily Routines and rituals that build a strong rhythm once applied daily and then being consistent.
If we have any dis–order then it is clear we are not in the Flow Zone of life.
If we have any CHAOS going on, then we are living in the Danger Zone.
Both these articles are well worth reading as they present what many of us can relate to and are a Road Map out so we can live Another Way.
And Finally –
for those ready to get Serious about ending CHAOS in EVERY area of life – the following are great articles that can support…
Written by the author that does not have CHAOS going on in their life… and this means these words could ignite the reader and inspire Change, simply because they are free of the vibration that is known as CHAOS.
It is well worth applying what is presented in each and every one of these articles because they come from a body that lives what is written. Nothing more and nothing less.
